Simeco’s Shaftless screw conveyors SA consists of an Archimedean screw, without internal shaft, driven by a power transmission gear motor, the spiral rotating inside a trough carrying material loaded through one or more hoppers, to one or more exhaust ports, possibly equipped with shut-off sliding valve.
The machine can be in a “pull” configuration, i.e. it pulls the material from the inlet towards the outlet, being the drive after the outlet spout, or in a “push” configuration when the pushes the material towards the outlet and the drive is before the inlet.
The power transmission can be direct, with the gearbox’s output shaft directly connected with the screw flange, or it can be a system consisting of motor drive system – chain – flanged shaft connected with the screw.
Shaftless screw conveyors are suitable to transport clogging materials, such as sludge or screenings, which otherwise would tend to stick to the shaft of the screw.
The working range of the conveyor is typically between 0° and 30°, with decreasing efficiency proportional to the increasing inclination.
The unit can be manufactured in many combination of 304; 316 and high strength carbon steel, the boby being usually 304 or 316; for special applications Simeco can provide other materials like AISI 904 or Duplex stainless steel.
The main advantages are as following:
• The simplicity
• The extremely simple installation
• The extremely simple maintenance
In the most common installation and operational situation, there is no maintenance in the first 2 or 3 years of operation.
Fields of application:
• Municipal wastewater for sludge and screenings
• Paper Mills
• Food Industry
• Slaughterhouses
• Industrial plants
Primarily, maintenance consists of operations to be performed on site with a very little down time for the machine.
Upon request the unit can be supplied provided with a control panel, which can be electromechanical or PLC controlled.
