SIMECO Internally Fed Drum Screen

IFD: is a screen fed from the inside, self-cleaning, suitable for a variety of applications, from the municipal wastewater treatment to the industrial processes.

It consists of a drum, which can be perforated plate or wedge wire, placed in rotation by a drive. The drum being supported by a frame and everything enclosed in a stainless steel enclosure.

The wastewater inlet pipe enters from the machine from the back (same side of the motor) and goes inside the drum for a calculated distance; at the end of the pipe it placed a water distributor which allow the water to be uniformly spread on the inside surface of the drum. In this way the best utilization of the filtering area is achieved. A double washing system is placed all along the drum, on the top of it, and consists of a steel pipe provided by nozzles and fed from the back side of the machine (inlet side); this system allows to unclog the filtering media. A supplementary washing system can be placed inside the drum, and it is recommended every time the filtering mesh is very fine, or the kind of screening is very sticky.

Screenings are conveyed to the outlet by means of a screw welded inside the drum. The screw can have many features depending on the application: it can be a continuous screw or made of welded flights.

The water outlet can be placed at the bottom or at the lower side of the discharge tank.

The screenings are discharged from the open part of the drum, in line with the inlet pipe but opposite side, and are usually collected inside a screw compactor or wash press.

The material of construction can be stainless steel 304 or 316, and on demand can be duplex stainless steel.

The main advantages are:

• Clog free machine
• High flow capacity
• Suitable to handle extremely high solid contents in the waste water
• Virtually maintenance free
• Easy installation

Upon request the unit can be supplied provided with a control pannel, which can be electromechanical or PLC controlled.
